In her New York Times best selling book, Naomi’s Breakthrough Guide: 20 Choices to Transform Your Life, county music superstar, author and singer, Naomi Judd, shares her secrets on how she overcame a life-threatening health crisis by first changing her thoughts. She talks about the importance of having a piece of quiet in your day to create the peace of mind you want. She says, “Peace of mind isn’t the absence of problems; peace of mind comes from your ability to deal with them.”
After ironing out the emotional kinks that come with any source of panic, I’ve learned the value of just sitting quietly each day and listening to my own inner wisdom, my loving intuition. I first learned this technique when I was just about 11 years old, at my first Silva Mind Control training. Since then, the founder, Jose Silva has passed away and his daughter, Laura is at the helm, continuing to lead and teach millions of people how to use the Silva Mind Method. Jose Silva was a man ahead of his time, discovering and pioneering a technology to help people tap into more of their mind. Jack Canfield endorses them and every other personal growth leader for the past 40 years has been influenced by Silva's trainings.
Passive vs. Active Meditation
You see there are actually two kinds of meditation, passive and active. It's a proven and well researched fact that meditating daily will improve your life dramatically. As a stress reliever, there's nothing better than to allow your body the gift of full and total relaxation. It slows down your thinking and moves you to what is called an Alpha level.
Active meditation is used to connect with your inner wisdom, tap into universal consciousness and problem solve at the deepest level. According to my friends at Silva, here are just a few of it's benefits:
- gain inspirational ideas and thoughts,
- program your brain to kick bad habits,
- accelerate your natural healing process,
- develop your intuition.
You can even use this level of mind to create coincidences to move you toward your goals. I've used this method of combining visualization and relaxation for years and couldn't imagine my life without it.
If I’m facing a challenge, I like to ask a question to give my subconscious mind a point of focus. For example, if you’re wondering something practical like, “How do I find the perfect dress?” Ask the question, sit in silence and see what comes up.
You can also use this for really tough cookie problems. For example I have used the exact same technique seeking guidance wanting to know what steps to take in order to properly negotiate and sell over $10M worth of Manhattan prime real estate property. It took me many months to get and follow my answers, but in the end it brought me to accomplishing my task and connecting me with my purpose.
Taking time each day to be quiet gives me the ability to refocus and get myself back on track, in a resourceful state. No matter how you do it, it works. Experiment with eyes open or closed, legs crossed, or sitting with feet on the floor, just listen quietly to the wisdom within. Start with a few minutes each day and keep adding more. You deserve it.
